The One and Only Ivan

 Ivan, an extraordinary gorilla is filled with imagination. Ivan likes to think about the TV shows he's seen, and he loves to think about his friends Bob and Stella. Ivan thinks that art will save him. Ivan loves to paint and draw. Then a baby elephant comes with the name of Ruby. She tells Ivan she was taken away from her family and she knows they did terrible things to her family. Can Ivan make Ruby's life better with him than with her family?

I really liked when Ivan got his finger paints and drew Ruby. I also liked when the protest was going on and Ivan tells her that the protesters are not mad at her, but mad at the person who put her with Ivan.

My favorite character was Ruby because she was brave. I also liked Bob because he was funny.

I would rate this book :) :) :) :) (4 out of 5 happy faces). I recommend this book for people that have a good relationship with the circus and people against the circus.

The Blood of Olympus by Rick Riordan

The blood of Olympus is about when all the Romans and Greeks decide to work together as a team to defeat Gaea, the Earth goddess. Some people are on her side, those are the people who worship Kronos, the Titan of the Universe, and wan't to bring him back from his chopped up pieces in the coffin. Those people are like Luke, who the fates chose if he should live or not. Gaea is waking up faster. If Gaea awakens, Chaos would return. When the blood of all seven half bloods, which is the blood of Olympus, it shall awaken Gaea from her sleep. These seven half bloods have to choose who is going to die and which six is going to live. But maybe Gaea has other plans to keep Chaos alive.

I really liked when the monsters met the half bloods before the war. I also really liked when they were looking off Olympus at what Gaea was doing to the people.

My favorite character was Hazel because she had an interesting life. I also liked Reyna and her dogs because they were funny and crazy.

I give this book :):):):):) (5 out of 5 happy faces). I recommend this book for people who liked the first series of Percy Jackson and people who are Greek or Italian

The BFG by Roald Dahl

The BFG is no ordinary human-eating giant. He is far too nice and funny. It's lucky for Sophie he is. If she was carried off in the middle of the night by any of the other giants she would soon be breakfast. But when Sophie hears that the bad giants are traveling to London to swallow little children every night, she and the BFG decide to stop them once and for all. They must defeat the giants before it's too late.

I really liked it when the BFG and Sophie go dream hunting because the dreams were amazing. I also liked when they created the bad dream for the queen.

My favorite character was the BFG because he said lots of funny things. I also liked Sophie because my sisters name is Sophie.

I give this book :):):):):) (5 out of 5 happy faces). I recommend this book to people who have nightmares and to people who's name is Sophie or has a sister named Sophie.

When the Sea Turned to Silver by Grace Lin

This book is about when winter has been lasting for a long time. The tradition states that when the rice jar is empty that it will turn to spring. The winter strangely lasted longer. Pinmei, the main character, was on her last few grains of rice when the emperor stole her grandmother. The emperor decides to build a "great" wall surrounding his palace for no one to see what is behind it. Pinmei and her friend, Yishan, team up to find her grandmother before it's too late. They both know the emperor is about to plan something evil.

I really liked it when Lady Meng cried so hard her tears broke the wall because the wall is bad. Another thing I liked was when they finally proved who Yishan really was.

My favorite character was Lady Meng because she never gave up on anything and transformed into something amazing.

I give this book :) :) :) :) :) (5 out of 5 happy faces). I recommend this book for people who liked the Percy Jackson series or the Kane Chronicles, or to people who like magic and monsters.

Timothy and the Dragon's Gate

This book is about a boy named Timothy Freshwater who was just expelled from the last school in the city. He went to work with his dad and found out that the boss was hiding something. His boss had a key that allowed him to be in charge of a man named Mr.Shen. Mr.Shen is a dragon in human shape. He was being punished. That year Mr.Shen had to go under the Dragons Gate or he will be stuck in human form forever.

My favorite part is when Timothy was going to China on the Ironic Gentleman, a ship.

Another part I like is when Mr.Shen turned into a dragon again.

My favorite character is Alex from the Ironic Gentleman. I like her because she is a great sword fighter, and she is very helpful and smart.

I give this book :) :) :) :) (4 out of 5 happy faces). I recommend this book for people who are adventurous and good at helping people who need it.

Leaving Gees Bend, by Irene Latham

This book is about a girl named Ludelphia Bennett who is blind in one eye. The story takes place in Alabama in 1932. She has to go get help after her mother gets sick from having a baby. She has to walk a long way with no shoes.

Ludelphia goes and gets Etta Mae to help, but everyone thought Etta Mae was a witch and made Ludelphia's mother sick.

My favorite part is when Ludelphia and Etta Mae scare off Mrs. Cobb, who is a mean lady.

Other parts I like are when Ludelphia has to start her quilt over again because her story is different. Every quilt tells a story.

My favorite character is Rose, the baby. Ludelphia named Rose.

I give this book :) :) :) :) :) (5 out of 5 happy faces). I recommend this book for people who like brave girls.

The Roar, by Emma Clayton

This book is about a twin sister named Ellie who got kidnapped and who everyone thought was dead. Ellie's twin brother, Mika, actually had a feeling that Ellie was still alive and started to look for her. This book is fantasy and takes place in the future.

My favorite part is when Mika figured out that the Animal Plague was just a lie.

Other parts I like are when Mika was looking for Ellie and actually went over "The Wall" to search for her and it was one of the most dangerous things to do .

My favorite character is Mika because he has an imaginary dog friend, Awen, and he followed him wherever Mika was and kept brushing Mika's legs.
